Tech Tip

As many of you know Microsoft has released its newest version of Office, Microsoft Office 2007. In addition to its “enhancements” and streamlined interface it also introduced new default file formats for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. These file formats have the following extensions .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx respectively. Why is this important? Because these file formats cannot be opened by previous versions of Microsoft Office. As more offices migrate to Microsoft Office 2007 you and your staff will begin to receive documents from clients that cannot be opened by your current version of Microsoft Office. To help with the transition Microsoft has released a patch that will allow older version to open these files, Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility Pack. (Link Below) We have provided the following procedure to help you and your staff download and install the patch. If you would prefer to have someone from our office install the patch, or need further assistance please feel free to call our office at 337.235.7741.

When prompted with the option below, select Run.
